Skins are front runners for vince young.

Recommended Posts

The South Florida South-Sentinel "hears" that the Redskins are the front-runners for Vince Young's services this offseason.

Redskins beat writer Rich Tandler has also heard talk of Vince Young in the nation's capital, so the smoke is building here. Due a $4.25 million bonus in addition to his $8.5 million salary, Young is likely to be released rather than traded. The Redskins are one of just two teams with no semblance of a viable starting QB. It's easy to see why V.Y. would be interested in signing on, as it's his quickest path to playing time. Related: RedskinsSource: South Florida Sun-Sentinel

Now this is interesting. I hope VY gets a shot, and can succeed with another team. Hopefully he has learned to keep that hot head of his inside.

Verrry interesting. Looks like the Redskins have a better option than John Beck...or do they? O_O

Weren't the complaints on Donny that he couldn't grasp the offense? What makes think Young would have any better luck?

If Vince has grown up even a little, I think it's worth it. He is a proven winner, and he will probably come cheap (IMO). IF... and that is a big IF.. Vince has learned anything, or is just a tad less crazy... The Skins will reap the benefits of this signing.

VY would actually be a pretty good fit in Mike Shanahan's offense.

1. He is mobile; Adding another dimension when it comes to bootlegs.

2. He does a very good job at selling the play-action pass.

3. He's a much better passer than most people are willing to give him credit for.

4. Shanahan is great with quarterbacks, so their relationship should be better than what he had with Fisher.

Per Rotoworld.com:

Two sources tell the Washington Examiner's John Keim that they would be "shocked" if Vince Young lands with the Redskins.

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan has a strong friendship with Jeff Fisher and even moreso with former Titans coordinator Mike Heimerdinger. There's no way Young is getting a favorable review from either coach. The Young-to-Redskins whispers appear to be little more than media-generated scuttlebutt as opposed to sourced reports. Yeah, but you could have said all of those things about McNabb too, and Shanahan ended up benching him.

Yeah and I think it'd hard to argue that McNabb isn't about 1000x's better than VY.

If it happens ( I honestly think that Matt Hasselbeck is more likely, not that I want him), the Redskins won't sign him to more than a 3 year deal, just to test him out in the offense. It won't be unlike the weird ass deal that McNabb signed. Regardless of what people keep saying, this is NOT the same Redskins FO of the last 10 years. Look at the draft; what happened there? Did they trade all of their picks in order to move up and grab a big-name player? Nope. They traded DOWN and got a ton more picks. How is that even close to "the same old Redskins". It is true that free agency hasn't started yet, but if you look at last season, what major splash did they make?
