GA_Eagle 595 Posted November 26, 2015 It sounds like he's a problem alcoholic if he's going into rehab. Those people cannot drink in moderation in most (if not all) cases Chern. However, the Browns have to understand that releases happen with alcoholics and they chose to support this guy so it had to be at least a little expected. Vin+ 3,121 Posted November 26, 2015 Browns coach Mike Pettine is not planning to cut demoted QB Johnny Manziel. "We told him yesterday, 'This isn't a dead end, this is a hurdle,'" said Pettine. "Sometimes you have to take a step back to take a few forward. This is a heavy dose of adversity. We will see how he handles it." Pettine stressed the reason for Manziel's demotion was a breach of trust, and LT Joe Thomas said the 30-second party video which surfaced earlier in the week was not the only reason for the demotion. Despite Pettine's comments, it is more likely than not Manziel has played his final snap with the Browns. Source: Cleveland Plain Dealer
Cherry 1,302 Posted November 26, 2015 Now that more info is out I'll back up the decision. Johnny apparently lied about the date the video was taken. If he had been honest about it I don't think there are any issues with it. Instead he gave the Browns a reason to be pissed off. Lying about it is worse than any amount of alcohol Johnny can drink. AL_Royalty 489 Posted November 27, 2015 The moral of this story is that in no walk of life is anyone immune from an overzealous, grudge holding decision maker holding their livelihood in the balance. If anyone else does this, it's a non-story. Because Pettine has some strangely harbored resentment toward Johnny, he goes from being named the starter for the remainder of the season to being thrown to clipboard land as the third string QB behind two guys who probably won't even be there next season. That's just fucking asinine. Pettine has never wanted Johnny anywhere NEAR the field, and this is just more proof of that. Even when someone asks him about something good that Manziel did in a game, his response is always pretty much, "well, yeah, but he still sucks." Going to the bar while your on vacation is far from a punishable offense, but when it comes to this dude, it's damn near a career death sentence? Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted November 28, 2015 I think it's a bit ridiculous to call out the Browns for holding Johnny accountable. It's one of the few "right" things they have done in a long time. He has to be responsible for himself above all else, but he has to respect the team and organization as well.He sat there and lied to everyone about it. Why do you lie about anything? Because you know you are in the wrong and are ashamed of yourself or your actions.

Because you know you are in the wrong and are ashamed of yourself or your actions. Accountable for partying during his week off? That's silly to me. Now I understand them punishing him for lying to them. That was my only problem with the deflate gate thing: Brady lied his ass off. My point is that he never should have been in the position where it was an issue to begin with. He knew the organization was just looking for a reason to fry him, so he made up some bullshit. Dropping from the starter going forward to little or no chance of seeing the field because he had some fun on his own time is crazy though. He wasn't hurting the team. He wasn't shirking his responsibilities. He was doing what he wanted to do with his free time. Edited December 2, 2015 by AL_Royalty

oochymp 2,393 Posted December 2, 2015 also let's not kid ourselves, this was probably just a one week demotion, he'll be back in the starting spot by the end of the year
oochymp 2,393 Posted December 2, 2015 looks like my last post was wrong, Browns have named Davis the starting QB for this week, which brings up this fun statistic: For 15th time in 13 seasons, Bengals prepare for new Browns QB - Cincinnati Bengals Blog- ESPN that's right, this will be the 26th time that Marvin Lewis has faced the Browns during his tenure with Cincinnati and it'll be the 15th different starting QB he's faced in those games (also, has Marvin Lewis really been with the Bengals for 13 years?) for comparison, the Bengals have had four different starting QBs is those games
Vin+ 3,121 Posted December 3, 2015 Coach Mike Pettine indicated Wednesday that he is open to turning back to Johnny Manziel as the Browns' starter at some point. The Browns spent all of last week trashing Manziel publicly for allegedly "lying" to them about some video of him partying. Days after losing Josh McCown to a fractured collarbone, the Browns are now rethinking their stance on Manziel. "This is a weekly thing," Pettine said of the decision between Johnny Football and Austin Davis. "It's Austin for this week and I'm not going to go beyond that. We'll revisit this (week to week)." The decision will come down to Davis' performance. Source: Cleveland Plain Dealer
oochymp 2,393 Posted December 3, 2015 Pettine went on to clarify "It all depends on just how much Austin sucks this week. If he can meet the minimum standard of suck that our fans are accustomed to from the quarterback position Austin will hold on to the job. But if he really sucks the big one, it's great to know we have a guy on the bench who can suck just enough to keep our fans booing in the seats."

AL_Royalty 489 Posted December 7, 2015 And this is why the Browns the Paul Krugers of the world demand 50 mill while the Bart Scotts hide in the bathroom waiting for a real organization to call and set them free from this prison of a team.
Vin+ 3,121 Posted December 29, 2015 Coach Mike Pettine admitted that Johnny Manziel's partying "is a problem" after the quarterback was again caught on video drinking on Christmas Eve this past week. On Monday, Pettine didn't rule out benching Manziel for the Week 17 finale against the Steelers. In the 10-second video, Manziel is seen "rapping, dancing, and drinking a Four Loko." According to Pettine, who had yet to see the video as of Monday afternoon, the Christmas Eve video isn't as bad as the bye-week one that got Manziel benched just a few weeks ago, but "I'll have a discussion with him about it." Manziel just turned 23 earlier this month and is allowed to drink alcohol as he pleases, but the Browns have grown tired of it being depicted on video. If benched for Week 17, he may have played his final snap for the Browns. Source: Cleveland Plain Dealer
RazorStar 4,025 Posted December 29, 2015 I have no idea what the hell Browns expect. If their starting QB can't drink to dull the pain, who can?
Vin+ 3,121 Posted December 30, 2015 Johnny Manziel has been diagnosed with a concussion and isn't expected to play Week 17 against the Steelers. Manziel played the entire Week 16 game against the Chiefs, but took some big hits and had his head driven into the turf on one scramble up the left sideline. He got up a bit slowly but stayed in to play every snap. Austin Davis is expected to get the start against Pittsburgh. Terrelle Pryor may be the backup. Vin+ 3,121 Posted January 3, 2016 (edited) Johnny Manziel was spotted gambling and dining in Las Vegas on Saturday night. Manziel, of course, has been ruled out for Week 17 with a concussion. He was spotted at Las Vegas' Planet Hollywood Casino dining and playing blackjack. "We've got Johnny Manziel with us tonight," proclaimed a casino employee. Manziel tried to cover up his whereabouts by posting an Instagram photo of himself and a dog with the hashtag #SaturdayNights, later adding "Avon, Ohio" as his location. A 23-year-old man hanging out in Vegas is no big deal, but the Browns may see it as a big deal based on Manziel's health (mental and physical) and the fact that he again appeared to be deceptive. Manziel was previously deceptive about his whereabouts, and it got him benched for Week 13. Source: USA Today Edited January 3, 2016 by Vin
