For the umpteenth fucking time I'm looking at his tax policies not his business failures. Tax brackets are the most important part of any new President's plan.

I personally think "not being a gigantic, racist piece of shit" is a pretty important part of any White House agenda.

I personally think it doesn't matter as long as the economy is running good. Society progresses on social issues at its own pace.

Decades behind the curve?

In many places, yes. You can't expect some backwater town to be as accepting of LGBT as a highly populated urban area. It's definitely shitty to wait but we will eventually see the progression in our cultural beliefs and ideologies.

You're misunderstanding what I'm saying. I'm not saying, "Let's wait until a more appropriate time to have this discussion."

I'm saying that society will adjust to more modern values as a whole in the coming decades. There is no breakthrough moment for society where we as a collective unit decide to be good to minorities. It takes education, social pressure, and time.

It's a lot easier to educate people and pressure them into changing when your leader isn't a racist sack of garbage. Electing a guy like Trump gives the "herp derp minorities are inferior" crowd validation all over again.

And getting a progressive in there does what? These are people that have been "herp derp minorities suck" for the entirety of their lives. You're not going to convince the older crowd that they're wrong on that shit. People from 30 and under have taken the torch as true progressives and we're going to really see that take off here soon. I'd argue that in modern america our economic status is much more important than being progressive.

You keep using the word economy... Did you know our economy is back? It doesn't really need as much fixing as people think anymore. Definitely not to the point where we need to sacrifice social progress for it. Both can happen at the same time.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Obama is a socialist. He's watered down compared to Bernie, but he's still a socialist. And yet, by the end of this year, the US dollar is projected to be worth as much as the Euro for the first time in 15 years. Investments in domestic energy are paying off big time for us. The unemployment rate continues to decrease. Gas is cheaper than it has been in a very long time. We're back. Do we still have some work to do? Absolutely. But I don't see why a "progressive" President can't do that.

Our economy is very very broken. If we're not going to break the backs of minimum wage workers by fucking their hours and wages, we need to let them spend their own money that they earned, not put it in a government pot that is inefficient and damaging to the common person. There has to be a sacrifice. A progressive president or no income tax for people making under 25k?

Iowa is doing pretty fantastic, economically right now. And I want to keep it that way. Bernie would slaughter us. Straight up slaughter. I can't vote for any candidate that wants to take my paycheck and take even more out of it than what is already taken. Call me greedy, call me selfish... I don't really mind. What I work for should be mine, not funneled to the welfare state.

It's crazy how much media attention Rand gets when he drops out. Too bad he couldn't get that while he was actually running. :shifty:

Also, Stephen is an amazing Stanley Tucci. I'm impressed.

Yeah not looking forward to "feeling the Bern" on my paychecks. What a joke this election is.

So you guys wouldn't want way cheaper healthcare? Everyone benefits from tax increases, not just poor people. I work 45 hours a week and can't afford health insurance. That shouldn't happen, period.

And a huge part of that is because Obamacare is a broken POS.

Let them have 20% more of the money they earned to help afford it. Healthcare needs revamped anyways through supreme court outlawing fucked up rates and prices though.

It's freaking ridiculous how much actual health care costs. If you want something that will actually cover your visits to the doctor without having over 5-6k in medical expenses out of pocket first, you're looking at *at least* $200+ a month.

Not sure that's correct. I don't know what his official policy proposal is but Trump is and always has been a big proponent of universal healthcare.

Not sure what his proposition on healthcare was but I know he did state many times that people making less than 25k would pay no income tax.

They already don't pay income taxes.
