Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted April 29, 2015 (edited) https://www.yahoo.com/politics/vermont-sen-bernie-sanders-to-announce-2016-117634415246.html Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont, is planning to announce on Thursday that he will run for president in 2016 and will enter primary and caucus contests as a Democrat, a senior Sanders adviser told ABC News. The announcement will indicate that Sanders will launch his campaign in May, most likely in his home state of Vermont. Sanders’ entry in the race gives Democrats at least one liberal alternative to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who declared her candidacy earlier this month. Sanders will also be Clinton’s first formal Democratic challenger. Sanders is a self-described independent socialist and will enter the race as a definite long shot. The expected announcement comes at a time of growing liberal unease over President Obama’s agenda and amid angst that Clinton won’t be pushed sufficiently leftward with Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Massachusetts, taking a pass on the race. Sanders, 73, currently serves as the ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee and previously served as the chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. Sanders has proudly noted he’s the longest-serving independent member of Congress in U.S. history. First "Democrat" to announce who doesn't totally make me want to vomit. He's still a little liberal for me on quite a few issues, but overall... Just going by the issues, I think he's solid. If he can somehow convince Warren to be his running mate... Hillary's campaign is basically over already. Edited April 29, 2015 by Favre4Ever

Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted April 30, 2015 A 73 year-old has no shot at winning. HIllary is 67... I mean, I totally agree with you that these ancient politicians have little real shot, but I think he has enough popularity and plays hard to the independents to be a headache for others. Thanatos 2,847 Posted April 30, 2015 What? Favre, you are nuts, dude. Sanders has no shot in hell of winning the Democratic nomination.
Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted April 30, 2015 If he gets Warren on the ticket, I think he absolutely can challenge for the nomination.. If he doesn't get Warren, I still think he will be a tougher out than expected.

seanbrock 1,684 Posted August 29, 2015 I was watching a clip of CNN discussion the DNC primaries and they're sucking Hillary's dick so hard and just dismissing Sanders AND O'Malley. They did this in 2007 too. Does anybody like Hillary? I don't know where these poll numbers come from because it's not just republican's who don't like her. OSUViking 505 Posted August 29, 2015 (edited) My big thing with him is definitely unions. I don't mind their existence, but at the bare minimum the right-to-work laws should be universal. People in the Midwest are so passionate about their unions when said institutions were part of the reason why there was a large transition of labor out of the Midwest to the South and overseas. EDIT: That's not to say I don't like the guy, just stating my concern. Is he pro or against the Trans-Pacific Trade Agreement or whatever it's called? Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted August 29, 2015 (edited) Is he now the frontrunner? Wouldn't say that... Not right now. But Sanders has been on a general and steady incline for the last two months while Hillary has done nothing but drop in the same span. Hillary has dropped nearly 20 points and Sanders has jumped more than that since entering the race at a measly 3% Edited August 29, 2015 by Favre4Ever

SteVo+ 3,702 Posted August 29, 2015 I was watching a clip of CNN discussion the DNC primaries and they're sucking Hillary's dick so hard and just dismissing Sanders AND O'Malley. They did this in 2007 too. Does anybody like Hillary? I don't know where these poll numbers come from because it's not just republican's who don't like her. Democrats control most media outlets (including CNN), and their biggest priority right now is to promote the idea of stability in the Democratic Party. With Obama's approval ratings, they realize the next election isn't going to be easy. So, for them, the ideal situation is a quick, painless primary where Hilary wins easily, while the Republicans battle it out longer. The moneymakers behind closed doors who want to see another Democrat in the White House in 2017 want nothing to do with Bernie Sanders. He's too risky in a general election to them, and he's the biggest threat (currently) to the image that Hilary is going to walk through the primaries effortlessly. Is he now the frontrunner? http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2016/president/us/2016_democratic_presidential_nomination-3824.html Hilary currently leads in polls, though Sanders has gotten much closer in recent months. Close enough, in my opinion, that he could catch her with a few solid debate performances. And of course, we haven't heard if Biden is running yet, which would shake things up. seanbrock 1,684 Posted August 29, 2015 I'm not sure how much I really trust those poll results though because like I said, I haven't met anyone who likes Hillary Clinton, Democrat, Republican (obviously) or otherwise. I think with her and the Clinton Foundation even people who don't know a lot about politics know how corrupt she is. She just comes across as an extremely fake and disingenuous person on a personal level though. She's never had a chance at becoming president and never will.
Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted August 29, 2015 Definitely. Hillary Clinton absolutely can not be trusted. And as you said, I think that is known pretty much across the board. Still looking at some polls, in some places more than 60% of voters say they don't and can't trust her. So it's baffling that she can still hold 50 or close to 50 percent of likely voters in those same places. Maybe it's just a lack of knowledge and not knowing other candidates, not so sure. She was here in Iowa and gave a speech about coming up poor and how she is going to fight for the middle class and talked a lot about farmers and ya know.. Basic politician stuff -- trying to connect with people. It just came off so fake, so disingenuous. I said from the beginning though that she had no shot. And that was before this whole email thing took on a life of it's own. FBI is now backing a 'serious probe' of the entire thing and will be looking for defense leaks.

seanbrock 1,684 Posted August 30, 2015 There are multiple Republican hopefuls who make Hillary look like a Saint, but none of them are getting the nomination, either. How? Because they're evil Republican's? Get real lol. Hillary takes money from all the same people pretty much. She's been in politics for decades which is why she can raise so much money and it's also the reason why everytime she runs for any kind of office she's declared the winner months/years in advance. If she gets in office we'll be at war with any and every country because she's "strong" on foreign policy. She's a PROVEN liar. I mean, I guess she's not a religious zealot but in terms of continuing to sell the middle and working class down the river to her political donors and bringing us into every way imaginable in what way is worse than a Republican? Good job buying into the bullshit propaganda though.
seanbrock 1,684 Posted August 31, 2015 (edited) http://www.mediaite.com/online/words-voters-choose-to-describe-hillary-clinton-liar-dishonest/ poll results showing voters think of Clinton as “dishonest” and a “liar.” The same poll found Clinton with low favorables. A majority of voters, 51%, say that they have an unfavorable opinion of Clinton while only 39% says they have a favorable opinion. What they had about the republican candidates some mostly accurate too so it looks like the people they polled pretty much know what they're talking about. I don't know much about this site or how reliable they are, but it certainly flies in the face of some other polls. yeah I double posted idgaf Edited August 31, 2015 by seanbrock
