Omerta+ 1,206 Posted January 12, 2018 My sons principal called today, and I was like,"What did he do?" The principal never calls our hourse, nor does his teaches because he is in general a well behaved child. So she tells me,"I just wanted to make a positive phone call, because I dont get to make enough of those calls. So I wanted to call you and tell you that Gabriel is doing extremely well, and I observed his class today, and he is paying attention and the teacher is always calling his name because he knows the answers. He is very respectful and he always says yes ma'am and yes sir, and please and thank you. He opened the door for me on the way out to lunch, and he is just a great kid." I really could not be happier. With all of the things going on with Macy I try my best to not forget that my son needs attention too, and he is truly a great kid. I feel very blessed to have such good kids, and an amazing wife. HE really made me super proud so tonight we are going to go to an arcade and he gets to pick where we eat. The only bummer is I still need to go bid work tomorrow, which I was not looking forward to because it is with a snooty asshole with deep pockets....so yeah. I am so proud and I cant wait to spend the weekend with the fam.

BJORN 679 Posted March 2, 2018 I will be starting my first job out of college on April 1st! Pretty excited, I will be staying in Maryland but I will be moving to the Baltimore area, which will be a totally new experience as I have always lived in areas closer to DC.
Omerta+ 1,206 Posted March 7, 2018 I am going to be an Uncle. My brother told me he and his girlfriend are expecting in September. He was freaked at first, but I told him to not make me strangle him lol. Now he is super stoked and has so many questions. I am so stoked for him.
BigBen07 285 Posted March 30, 2018 I've got a job as a laundry attendant at Great Wolf Lodge. Just finished my first official week today and will be going to afternoons starting on Sunday. I'm pretty much guaranteed 40 hours a week. I also get a lot of perks with the job, which is pretty cool. Afternoons are from 2:30-11:00 PM, so I'll try to drop in on TGP and say hi for a bit after I get home.

DonovanMcnabb for H.O.F 2,241 Posted April 6, 2018 The university is doing everything in it's power to make sure I don't graduate on time but... Assuming that I do graduate on time, I've secured a job with the leading firm in the world for stadium design, as a designer. They don't just do stadiums, but that's their biggest market by far. I'll be moving to Kansas City after I graduate, which is where their headquarters is located.

OSUViking 505 Posted August 2, 2018 Bit of a difficult one for a lot of people I know to wrap their heads around, but I've been clean from weed for over 3 weeks now. Ever since the mental health stuff started, I don't think I'd gone longer than five days without. Reached a prolonged period where literally everything about my life and day was centered on how I could go get high. Took a look in the proverbial mirror and recognized the role these habits have played in worsening mental health, eroding my relationship last winter, and preventing me from growing as a person. Hasn't been easy. A lot of people have kind of looked at me as if I'm an idiot for thinking 3 weeks is impressive at all, don't think they could understand how those cravings and sensations manifested for me.

Almost put it in the "Y'all are old as fuck" thread I had laying around. Tbf I joined when I was like 15 and now I'm almost 21. 14 hours ago, blotsfan said: Cherry did you propose in the format of a draft projection? I think my odds of being declined would've been significantly higher but now I wish I did.
OSUViking 505 Posted February 25, 2019 (edited) It's been 7+ months since I last got high. I've had periods where I almost slipped into replacing weed with alcohol but I've come a long way. I spent almost $1,500 on weed in about a year and that was only the Venmo transactions. Although it's positive progress, I still struggle reckoning with the people I pushed away while in that state. I missed a lot of growth and fucked some good situations up so I could get high. I never want to be in that state again, although life hasn't necessarily been easier without it. The actual start date of my sober streak was July 9, 2018. I sent an email to my ex apologizing for neglecting our relationship and her emotional needs for the sake of weed. I don't know if she even cared, but I was fucked up emotionally after sending it and wanted to smoke. Something in me stopped me from doing it and here I am now. Edit: I also accepted a job offer in Madison following graduation. It'll be in a technical support role for a software company. It'll be hard work but I've made it this far. Just have to make it through this semester and I'm finally done with school. Edited February 25, 2019 by OSUViking
RazorStar 4,025 Posted February 25, 2019 Congrats man, saying sober is tough.
Phins4life 271 Posted February 25, 2019 Congrats, OSU. Staying sober is never easy. But the more you work at it, the better you get at it. I'm currently heading into my 3rd month sober after a lengthy drinking relapse last year. This is the first time I've managed to stop without going to treatment, but progress is progress. "One day at a time" is one of those overused cliches that actually prove very true. Keep at it.
