Piggly Wiggly 960 Posted August 21, 2011 AdamSchefterFiled to ESPN: Arizona will sign WR Larry Fitzgerald to a record 8-year, $120 million deal that includes close to $50 million guaranteed. :panic:
Shotgun 442 Posted August 21, 2011 Wow that is huge. I guess it's a nice incentive for most likely never winning a Super Bowl. 1
Sacks98 28 Posted August 21, 2011 I know they had to do it but for 50Mil? Dam this is alot of money...
FSUViking 184 Posted August 21, 2011 Between Fitz and Kolb, will they even have money to pay the rest of the 53-man roster? Wow.....
RazorStar 4,025 Posted August 21, 2011 With Fitz and Kolb who needs the rest of a roster?
.AirMcNair. 1,232 Posted August 21, 2011 wut? You can sign players to deals longer than 7 years? /stupidmaddenreference

BwareDWare94 723 Posted August 21, 2011 Well, they best hope Kolb or Skelton works out. That, or they need to draft QBs regularly til they find one. You can't sign a major asset like that who needs another working piece in order to earn all that money without having that other piece.
Guest Phailadelphia Posted August 21, 2011 (edited) I don't understand this move by Fitz. He could have picked pretty much any team in the league to play for next year but instead he takes an extension with the one who probably won't make the playoffs in the foreseeable future? Jayrus 51 Posted August 21, 2011 Believe it or not some people believe iin staying loyal to their team. Sure, Fitz could have gone somewhere more likely to win, but he loves the Cardinals and if they're willing to throw all this money at him, why not stay? SteVo+ 3,702 Posted August 21, 2011 I think Fitzgerald believes he can win rings in Arizona. That's the key.
CARDINAL 205 Posted August 21, 2011 I think Fitzgerald believes he can win rings in Arizona. That's the key. That will happen sometime in the near future.
Piggly Wiggly 960 Posted August 21, 2011 Money or rings...I'll take the rings. You'd take a SB ring over $120 million?

Sure, Fitz could have gone somewhere more likely to win, but he loves the Cardinals and if they're willing to throw all this money at him, why not stay? I would completely buy the loyalty bit if he wasn't getting paid 50 million guaranteed... lol. He loves Arizona, no doubt... But a whole lot more than loyalty got him to stay. You'd take a SB ring over $120 million? Let's not act like Arizona is the only team who would have been willing to throw this kind of money at him.... He could have had the best of both worlds... My guess is he plays a good portion of this deal... Gets old, realizes that the Cardinals really blow as an organization and demands a trade.
Guest Phailadelphia Posted August 21, 2011 You'd take a SB ring over $120 million? I'll take a SB ring and $80 million over $120, yeah. You have a better chance of your team winning a championship as a fan than as a player. Imagine being one of the key pieces on the best football team in the world. It's gotta be one of the most incredible feelings ever and to have a ring to commemorate the event? Yeah, fuck money. I want memories.
